The world through my lens...the Black Shutter.
Landscape photography close to home, and far away.
I am a photographer
Four simple words, so much more meaning…
As a child I always loved taking pictures. I remember going through countless “instamatic” cameras, film cartridges, flash cubes, and development fees. Mailing away my film cartridges to Triple Print, waiting for weeks to see what came back.
Also as a child I always had a deep love of nature. I was outside ALL THE TIME. From dawn to dusk, only coming home to eat. Building forts in the field, playing in the creek. Watching for the street lights to come on, knowing that meant I had to be home. Or at least be on my street.
As the years went by I moved on to my first DSLR…still film…still waiting for prints. And life moved on too. I raised 2 wonderful boys into young men. I built a career in the corporate arena. But I longed for something more. My soul was hungry. I craved adventure. I craved passion…
So what does one do in such a situation? I went on a vacation. I visited the Canadian Rocky Mountains. And I knew as soon as I saw my mountains. I found what I was looking for. I hiked, and I took photographs. I was alive. More alive than I had been in many years. I came home to Ontario, and I hiked and I took more photographs. I was alive. And so a passion was born.
That was 3 years ago. Today I hike and I take photographs as often as I can. I spend countless hours enjoying the peace and solitude of nature. I try to capture this and bring it home with my camera.
I go back and visit my mountains every year. They remind me of the possibility that lays before me. They remind me of how strong I have become. Photography and nature truly feed my soul. They have gotten me through some tough times, and some joyous times. I want to share what I see through the Black Shutter with everyone around me. I want you to look at one of my photographs and image yourself right there with me. Feeling the strength of the mountains, the rush of the water, the peace and solitude of the forest.
I hope you enjoy my work and I hope it makes you feel the way capturing makes me feel…passionate, alive, at peace.
Yes…I AM PHOTOGRAPHER.

I have a philosophy...
Two things: What you see is what I saw, and art should be accessible to everyone.
What you see is what I saw...
When you see am image I shot, you are seeing what I saw, at that time, at that place. I do very little editing of my images. I want them to be the "real thing". That way you can feel like you were sitting beside me, right there.
Art should be accessible to everyone...
I support the local arts community. I participate in several art groups, and display my work often in local galleries. I volunteer to support the arts in all areas. Everyone should have to opportunity to go to a gallery and see artwork.
If you see something you like or would like to add a piece of my work to your home please let me know. All the images you see can be brought into your home. I'd be happy to provide additional information regarding limited edition and open stock prints, formats, sizes, and pricing.
